Claudia Valeria Bertacchi founded Bertacchi Law LLC, a law firm that strongly believes in client satisfaction. She is a dual citizen of both the United States and Italy. She also is fluent in Italian and Spanish. Claudia was born and raised in the Dunning neighborhood in Chicago. Her parents are Italian immigrants who used to pick olives in Italy until they decided to pursue the American dream. Because of her humble roots, Claudia refused to leave the neighborhood and currently lives and practices in the area. Claudia remembers her late Nonno’s (Grandpa) words of “Thanks God and God Bless America,” which have always reminded her to be thankful and to never give up on her goals.
Claudia is a proud alumna of Lane Technical Magnet High School, where she took only honors and AP classes. She then went on to graduate magna cum laude from DePaul University where she double majored in Political Science and Italian, and minored in Spanish. While at DePaul, she studied abroad in Argentina and Chile. Lastly, she graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she was on the Dean’s list and earned the prestigious CALI Award for the highest grade in Ethics.
Instead of only taking courses at the law school, Claudia further broadened her horizons and got special permission from the U.S. government that allowed her to study abroad in Cuba. She conducted research on the infamous case of “The Cuban 5” and submitted a thesis on it.
Outside of the classroom, Claudia worked as a 711 senior law clerk with the Office of the Public Defender of Cook County. She was assigned to the Felony Trial Division where she participated in all stages of a criminal trial, including serving as second chair for both jury and bench trials.
Claudia has experience in legal matters involving family law, estate planning and all aspects of residential real estate transactions. Claudia is a tenacious attorney in the court room and will always make sure your voice is heard. She understands that divorce and child related issues are very sensitive and emotional times for people. What makes her unique is that she is a fierce advocate that does not like to take “no” for an answer. Because she pays close attention to detail and is extremely focused, Claudia will represent you zealously.
Claudia has been a dedicated volunteer certified Catechist for the Catholic Church for several years now. She teaches high school and adult religious education to those who are preparing to receive the holy sacrament of Confirmation. Claudia owes all of her success so far to putting God above all things.
Besides work and teaching, Claudia loves soccer and has been coaching for many years. Her favorite teams are Juventus, Italy, and Argentina. Lastly, Claudia sleeps very well at night thanks to her protector and best friend, Rex, a beautiful male German Shepherd Dog.
Claudia is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is an active member of the Justinian Society of Italian Lawyers, UNICO National, and the Illinois State Bar Association.
